In Honor of My Father
I am riding the Pan Mass Challenge during my 49th year for many reasons, not the least of which is that my father died of cancer at age 48, when I was 8 years old. It's possible that if he had access to the kind of cancer care available today--especially at institutions like Dana-Farber Cancer Institute--he might still be alive.
My father's death, in many ways, defined my entire life's path, given that I feel I have rebelled against life in many ways as a result. His untimely death was the single hardest thing I faced growing up, and I want to do whatever I can to further research into cancer as well as its treatment.
Beyond my father, I have had dear friends and adored patients diagnosed with cancer and both die from and continue to struggle with its treatment and vast implications.
Thank you for your support of cancer research and treatment.
